Review of Large Heavy-Duty 6" Steel Spring Clamps - PVC Cushion Grip & Tips

A great basic spring clamp and much cheaper than buying them at the local hardware supercenter. Definitely the type of thing that buying a name brand is not necessary. The generic will do the trick.

Review of All in One Clamp U-99 99-Inch Ultra Wide Grip Clamp with Double T-Track

I can not begin to describe how well this clamping tool guide works. It is easily adjustable to clamp on any width work piece but, obviously, this one was made to rip 8' sheet material. The guide has three levels of clamping force but the first level is enough to secure the guide so that it will not move during ripping.

This guide absolutely does not bow to the side as you rip.You can press the base plate of your circular saw tight against the side of this guide and rip away. For the first time I can rip a full 8' sheet of plywood and the cut is consistent width the full length. This is virtually impossible to do with cheaper guides like the thin-gauge, two-piece one from Johnson.

This guide has two t-slot tracks as well so you can design jigs and stops to attach to the guide.I purchased the optional 9"x12" HDPE saw plate for circular saws that runs in the T-track of the guide but I haven't used it yet.I don't know if I will ever have the need to.If the guide doesn't bow sideways, and believe me, this one doesn't, you can get a straight cut without the need of linking your circular saw to the guide with the optional plate.

The guide has slots that allow you to insert optional ruled scales (SAE or metric). However, I have purchased these and they are no good. The measuring scale is made of thin plastic laminated on paper and is off by 1/8" within 48".See my review for the "All in One Clamp I-99 99-Inch Scale (English)" product. This applies to all the E. Emerson all in one measurement scales that I have purchased. However, the extra wide surface between the T-slots on the Ultra Wide clamp leaves plenty of room to add a quality adhesive backed measurement tape such as those sold for table saw rip fence rails.I plan to purchase one of those to enhance my Ultra Wide.

This clamping tool guide is well worth the price and I'm glad I finally made myself try it.Do yourself a favor, through that cheap two-piece tool guide away, or that not quite straight piece of scrap lumber and buy one of these. You'll be glad you did when you start getting really straight cuts from your circular saw.

I also have the 54" Ultra Wide, the 50" standard width and the 36" standard width.See my reviews for those too.

Review of All in One Clamp A-36 36-Inch Grip Clamp Guide with T-Track

I really like this straight edge/clamp system!I purchased a 36", a 50" and the 99" wide model. The 50 and 90 are perfect to rip a 4X8 sheet of plywood.I purchased th 36" for smaller jobs using the router and powered hand saw.Using this clamp guide is quick and easy and reliable. They provide a dead on straight guide.

Make sure you use the narrower models as a guide and not put a lot of side pressure on them or they will bow ever so slightly. One the wider model this is not an issue.

The reason for the 4 stars? This one didn't work right out of the box.Nothing appeared damaged or out of place.I check it all over very carefully and it just never got a grip.So maybe I got lemon but there is something wrong or missing, or in the quality control in the 36" model. It just didn't work. Thus the 4 stars. It has been returned.

Update:

The replacement arrived and it works just fine,I really like these clamps and find a variety of ways to use.

Review of Quick-Grip Clamp - 24in.

This clamp uses the ingenius trigger grip design for unbelievable ease of use. This makes the clamp unbelievably easy to tighten using one hand. A few warnings about this particular product, however:
(1) Be sure the size is correct. I think the 24" size is probably a bit too big for most projects. I think the 18" size is the best all-around size.Personal preference and common usage really should make this decision for you.
(2) The plastic construction makes the clamps best for holding items "approximately" in place. If you need total clamping for cutting precision, look elsewhere.
All in all, a good product if it is the right size, and used for the right purpose.A good collection would probably include either this or the 18" size, the 36" size and the smallest size.If building such a collection, I would start with this or the 18" size.

Review of All in One Clamp U-54 54-Inch Ultra Wide Grip Clamp with Double T-Track

I can not begin to describe how well this clamping tool guide works. It is easily adjustable to clamp on any width work piece within 50" or less. The 50" length is great for cross ripping sheet goods (4' wide). The guide has three levels of clamping force but the first level is enough to secure the guide so that it will not move during ripping.

Review of Quick-Grip 59200CD 2-Inch Handi-Clamp

I like these much better than the spring clamps we all use. It exerts more pressure with an easier release than a spring clamp of similar size. Just squeeze to lock it and it stays put. I used a couple the other day to hold a straight edge for routing dado's. I cut 3/4 x 1/2 deep runs with no slippage from the clamps. When I was done with each one I just squeezed the release and went on to the next . Lickety split. Nice idea !

Review of Irwin Industrial Tools 512QC546DT 12-Inch Quick-Grip Bar Clamp with Bonus 6-Inch Mini Bar Clamp

I have been crafting fine cabnitry for many years now. In the process I have used virtually every clamp and strap device on the market. From Jegenson, strap clamps, spring grip, bar clamps (circular & retangular)to the racheting designs. All have particular advantages, but the bestoverall clamp that I have used for wood glueing and wookwrking is the quickgrip. Some of their advantages are ease of clamping and or releaseing themechanism itself. The clamp can also be quickly adjusted using one handassuming that the clamp has been "gross" adjusted to theapproximate size of the work piece.Gross adjustment is a simple onesecond process of sliding the statioanry end of the clamp down the staft tothe approximate size of the work-piece.Equally easy to operate is thequick (hence the name) release button. It provides easy readjustments oftension or clamp position. Both of these features as esential whan workingalone or with a complex assembly that requires pressure while the clamp isbeing applied. The weight of the clamps that I use the most (standard 36and 24 inch clamps) are approxmiatly 2 and 2.5 lbs respectivly. These arethe lightest clamps that I have used given their holding strength. Theyprovide much more holding force than I have ever need for cabinet makingwith no apparent slippage over 24 hours (typ glue cure cycle). Their onlylimitation is their length. They come in standard lengths of 12, 18, 24,36, and 50 inch lenghts. I guess the manufacturer assumes that if you wnatto build somehting bigger than 50 inches, you and prodably a professionaland will have custom holddown hardware of your own...Keith J, San Jose,CA
